A Day at the Museum

On June 23rd the activities department of Carmel Health and Living has a special trip planed to the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis. The Eiteljorg has been ranked as one of the world’s best contemporary Native American art museums. Featuring works by N.C. Wyeth, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Fredric Remington the Eiteljorg is the only museum of its kind in the Midwest.

Activities Director of Carmel Health and Living, Brian Simmons says, “We have one cultural outing a month, and this time it is to the museum. We brought it up to the resident council and they loved the idea.”

The bus will leave the community at 10am and return at 3pm. “This will allow ample time for a tour of the museum along with lunch in the cafeteria,” Brian said.

The residents will be able to experience a special exhibit called Gold! Riches and Ruin. The exhibit explores the historical and cultural significance of gold in the American west and highlights the relationship between the gold rushes in American history and the impact they played in shaping a national identity.

“We welcome and encourage family members on all our outings,” said Brian. “It gives an opportunity to interact with your loved one outside the community and enjoy each other’s company in a cultural setting.”
